Successful Facebook Advertisement Strategy

Today we know facebook is one of the effective platform for marketing and advertising. Every website wants to get connect with facebook and get their potential customers. Now facebook advertisement leaves all other advertisers and publishers behind and has become one of the most successful advertisement arena. Facebook is going after brand advertisers as their primary revenue channel, hoping to take dollars away from television advertisers as their share of the attention economy continues to increase. It appears that the strategy is a smart one as Facebook now accounts for 23 percent of all ad impressions in the United States. Contrast that with Google who accounts for 2.3 percent of impressions.

This was a strategy highlighted by Fred Vogelstein’s 2009 article about the “Great Wall Of Facebook“. The company has been incredibly effective at driving attention to their site, with users spending hours on the site every month. For Facebook that attention has translated into impressions, many of which still haven’t been monetized (there is plenty of unfilled homepage inventory).

While Facebook’s self-serve advertising platform has produced tremendous results, the company is still at the very beginning of their push for brand advertisers. With numbers like the one’s published by comScore today, there’s no doubt that the company should have no problem in attracting those advertisers as they now own one quarter of the impressions in the U.S.

Google Instant Now on Mobile Devices

As we know Google have just launched its new search feature called Google Instant. Which is quite faster way of searching any thing in Google. So now Google introduces this facility of Google Instant in iPhone and Android mobile devices. Google Instant is now available on many U.S Mobile Devices.

According to the Google Blog, the Instant search option is presently on Android 2.2 devices, as well as iPhones and iPods running on iOS 4. As of right now, Google Instant is only available in English, although Google (Google) plans on adding more languages and bringing the service to other countries and devices.

In order to test out Instant's latest incarnation, one must tap the "turn on" link beneath the search box while visiting Google.com on a mobile device. Users are advised to wait for a bit and refresh the page if the "turn on" option isn't immediately visible.

Mobile Google Instant is similar to its desktop counterpart -- it offers a list predicting what users are searching for based on what they type. The first prediction's results will automatically appear on the screen. To access the remaining results, users just have to tap their fingers on the other listed predictions. If they press "enter" or the search button, the predictions will be skipped in favor of results that match the exact search terms.

The service, best designed to work on 3G and Wi-Fi networks, can also be enabled or disabled without causing users to leave the page they're on. All one needs to do is tap the "turn on" or "turn off" link.

Google Instant made its desktop debut in September, which is when a mobile sneak peek was also made available. By the end of the month, while in the midst of rolling out Instant to other countries, Google also added keyboard navigation to the service.

Yahoo Mail Integrated Facebook and Social Media Service

Social Networking is now become one of the effective way to connect with any website in easy way. So Now Yahoo! made this for their users to get connect with their favorite Social Network website within their Yahoo Mail service. Yahoo! has launched a new version of its free email service with better social media connectivity.

Users who elect to try Yahoo Mail Beta can view and share updates from Facebook and Twitter without leaving their Yahoo! in-box, according to WebProNews. There’s also an automatic slideshow feature that allows people to see photos and videos from sites like Flickr, Picasa, and YouTube from within their email messages. Other improvements include unlimited storage and better search functionality.

It’s interesting to watch Yahoo!’s strategy in social media as the company has always been much more a media than a technology company, unlike Google. Yahoo! had many social features of its own but has made the call to partner with others. While Yahoo! owns Flickr, YouTube belongs to rival Google, Facebook has ties with Microsoft and Bing, and Twitter is its own entity. Yahoo! is being smart by realizing that it needs to work with the leading applications, regardless of whether the company is a competitor in other ways.

It will be interesting to see whether Yahoo! users find the new email functionality helpful or whether it ends up being clutter. I use Gmail and I turned Buzz off after only a few days because I found it stressful having so many unread messages. I’ve also tried using Flock – like Firefox but with social media integration – as my web browser but I abandoned it because it was distracting.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RC Leak On Web

It’s well known that Microsoft is prepping a service pack for Windows 7, and now it appears an RC version has leaked to the web. The current build weighs in at a hefty 353 MB and is currently making its rounds on your favorite torrent site. Microsoft is expected to release a SP1 build this week at PDC 2010 on October 28th. Just with any service pack, Windows 7 SP1 will contain all previous fixes and patches rolled up into one update, as well as bug and security fixes that are still currently being tested.

According to Wzor, the leaked Windows 7 service pack comes in at Build 6.1.7601.17105.100929-1730, which indicates that the release was blessed by Microsoft on September 29th, almost a month ago. This age could also indicate that there are possible revisions to the release that is currently circulating.

Wzor has an incredible track record for these types of things, its probably safe to say that this is the real deal. However, as with any leak, install at your own risk as this is not an official release by Microsoft and depending on who you download it from, the file could have been altered.

Microsoft Office 2010 SP1 Goes to Beta Testers

Microsoft has sent out to select beta testers the first iteration of its service pack for Office 2010. The service pack weighs in at 294 MB and is currently making its way into the inbox of a selected group of beta testers.

Office 2010 is Microsoft’s latest version of its popular productivity suite and is used widely across corporate America. A general rule in the IT world is to not install any products from Microsoft until SP1 has been released; this is typically done to ensure stability and security for the end user.

Our tipster has indicated that there are no noticeable changes after first use. This indicates that it may be a large patch to the platform that will further enhance the security and the stability of the application.

Microsoft Office is a big ticket item for Microsoft and its imperative to their financial success that the platform be adopted widely to meet its sales and financial targets. With SP1 just around the corner, Microsoft will soon be able to expect corporate America to begin its adoption of Microsoft’s latest Office offering.

MySpace Integrated Facebook Connect Button

The most popular button amongst many webmasters and websites Facebook Connect has finally appeared on the signup page for MySpace. Now Myspace finally add a shocking Facebook Connect button in to facilitate their users by linking with their facebook account. Now you can login into Myspace without making another account of Myspace through your facebook account.

MySpace users can use Facebook Connect to get updates streamed to their MySpace accounts from things they have "liked" on Facebook. It's not the first time MySpace has used its larger competitor's technology, but it's the broadest implementation of a strategy that makes it clear that the first round of the social-network battles are over.

New MySpace CEO Mike Jones hosted the conference call to discuss the move. He was accompanied by Facebook's Dan Rose, vice president of partnerships and platform marketing, on the call, who compared MySpace's use of "Mashup" to really any Web site that uses data from Facebook Connect to personalize their sites with that social data.

After a slow decline as Facebook grew, MySpace is trying to stop comparisons to Facebook by rebranding itself as a "social entertainment" site full of updates on celebrities, new songs from bands, and other content geared around the entertainment industry. Adding Facebook's broad array of "likes" gives MySpace users a quick way to assemble that data they have probably already curated over at Facebook, assuming they prefer MySpace's user interface.

YouTube Redesign Homepage

As you know Google change its design time to time in different ways including their franchise websites like Orkut, Adwords and now Google has redesign its video portal website YouTube. Google owned website YouTube is now claiming that it will be one of the biggest redesigns in the history of their company.

The interface overhaul has replaced star ratings with a familiar “like/dislike” system. Video pages have been streamlined and extra clutter removed by grouping actions together in menus and uniting other areas of the site together, like the description and statistics area. Users can also search without interrupting the current video that’s playing and queue it right from the results.

Opera Software pushed out the Android version of its Mini 5 browser that improves the browser experience for Java phones by leaps and bounds. Opera Mini 5 beta and the nearly identical Opera Mobile 10 beta (for Symbian and Windows phones) have been making the mobile rounds since September. We're fans of the latest advances to come to the free browser, and we're looking forward to Opera making those changes final and retiring Opera Mini 4.2 (and Opera Mobile 9.6, while they're at it.) We just wish that Opera had submitted Mini 5 beta to the Android Market sooner. The beta build is equipped with an updated interface that includes a new, "speed dial" start screen featuring thumbnails of most-visited sites. The browser also supports tabs, a first for Mini but old hat on Opera Mobile.

Yahoo Integrate Facebook Status Updates

Yahoo is now focusing to integrate all the social networking features into its services. Yahoo has now self integrate the Facebook Status update into their Yahoo Mail In-box. Facebook users are now able to update their facebook status within their Yahoo Mail box. Not only status update yahoo is also providing the features to watch friends profile and receive e-mail from friends who have linked their accounts.

I think it’s an interesting effort from Yahoo to connect people from one website to other without leaving a particular page. As we know Yahoo is world largest and widest E-Mail service people really appreciate it. Yahoo has made promise that it will continue to introduce more features to connect social media and it’s a first priority for 2010.

Texas to Investigate Google Search Rankings

A spokesman for Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott confirmed the investigation, but declined further comment.

The review appears to be focused on whether Google is manipulating its search results to stifle competition.

The pecking order of those results can make or break websites because Google's search engine processes about two-thirds of the search requests in the U.S. and handles even more volume in some parts of the world.

That dominance means a website ranking high on the first page of Google's results will likely attract more traffic and generate more revenue, either from ads or merchandise sales.

On the flip side, being buried in the back pages of the results, or even at the bottom of the first page, can be financially devastating and, in extreme cases, has been blamed for ruining some Internet companies.

European regulators already have been investigating complaints alleging that Google has been favoring its own services in its results instead of rival websites.

Several lawsuits filed in the U.S. also have alleged Google's search formula is biased. Google believes Abbott is the first state attorney general to open an antitrust review into the issue.

"We look forward to answering (Abbott's) questions because we're confident that Google operates in the best interests of our users," Don Harrison, Google's deputy general counsel, wrote in a Friday blog post.

Harrison said that Abbott has asked Google for information about several companies, including: Foundem, an online shopping comparison site in Britain; SourceTool, which runs an e-commerce site catering to businesses; and MyTriggers, another shopping comparison site.

All of those companies offer features that Google includes in its search engine or in other parts of its website. Foundem, SourceTool and MyTriggers have previously filed lawsuits or regulatory complaints against Google.

"Given that not every website can be at the top of the results, or even appear on the first page of our results, it's unsurprising that some less relevant, lower quality websites will be unhappy with their ranking," Harrison wrote.

Google says its closely guarded search formula strives to recommend websites that are most likely to satisfy the needs of each user's request. If it didn't keep its users happy, Google argues that people would become disgruntled and switch to other search engines offered by Yahoo Inc., Microsoft Corp. and IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ask.com.

iPhone OS 4 Get Multitasking Support

Rumor has been started that new iPhone OS 4 will get multitasking support like a Mac Expose. The next version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iPhone OS 4.0, is all set to allow third party applications to run in the background while working on apps via an Expose-like interface. Users will now able to work and used many applications at one time and can also switch between different applications running in the background.

According to Apple Insider’s report, iPhone OS 4.0 will employ a multitasking system similar to the Mac OS' Expose:

Those familiar with the design of iPhone 4.0 said that the user interface will resemble Apple's desktop Expose feature, in that a key combination--reportedly hitting the Home button twice--will trigger an Expose-like interface that brings up a series of icons representing the currently running apps, allowing users to quickly select the one they want to switch to directly. When a selection is made, the iPhone OS zooms out of the Expose task manager and transitions to that app.
